The Serpentine Pavilion: An Architectural Showcase

The Serpentine Pavilion, hosted by the Serpentine Galleries in London’s Kensington Gardens, is a renowned platform for showcasing visionary architectural designs. Each year, a prominent architect is invited to create an exceptional structure that pushes the boundaries of creativity and construction. This year, the honour fell upon Lina Ghotmeh, a talented industry leader, who embraced the challenge to craft a unique and inspiring pavilion.

The Pavilion projects at Hyde Park have long been celebrated for their ability to seamlessly blend art and architecture, creating a space where people can gather, connect, and converse throughout the summer months. This year’s Pavilion, Á table, embodies this rich legacy and champions sustainability and low-carbon principles, reflecting the Serpentine’s commitment to a greener future.

An Architectural Gem Unveiled

Behind the scenes of the Serpentine Pavilion 2023, our CEO, David Glover, has been a key figure in the project’s inevitable success for many years. With a remarkable track record, Glover had been involved in 18 previous pavilion constructions as either an engineer or Technical Advisor from 2006 to 2022! His wealth of experience and expertise in engineering and construction proved invaluable in realising these ground-breaking architectural visions.

Collaboration between each new architectural team and the long-standing Serpentine team is vital in constructing a new pavilion.  Ghotmeh’s architectural brilliance was complemented by the team’s technical knowledge and understanding of engineering and delivering within the unique demands of the site, owned by the Royal Parks. Together, they navigated the complexities of materials, design elements, and construction challenges, helping bring Ghotmeh’s vision to life.
